The Bard's Shopping List: Every Classic EQ Song, Who Sells It, and Where to Find Them

There's a particular kind of chaos that comes with rolling a bard in classic EverQuest. You log in, you've got your lute and your starting songs, and then someone in your group asks why you're not slowing things or why the cleric's mana keeps dropping — and you realize you're missing half your toolkit because you didn't know which NPC in which city is holding the scroll you need.

This is that reference. Every vendor-sold song, organized by city, with the NPC name and what they carry. Compiled from the EQDiva archive and the P99 wiki, cross-referenced against the live song list. Covering Classic, Kunark, and Velious content — which is the full range you'll need on Quarm.

Classic Era Vendors

These five cities cover everything from level 1 through the high-50s for Classic content. The good news: South Qeynos and North Freeport carry almost identical catalogs, so whichever city you're based out of, you're covered.

North Freeport

Lysric Loresinger (carries the low-level starter songs)

Inisis Trimpet (carries the combat and utility mid-tier songs)

South Qeynos

Qeynos mirrors Freeport almost exactly. Same songs, different NPCs. Good if you're Goodly aligned and Freeport guards aren't your friends.

Lysric Loresinger — same starter set as the Freeport Lysric (levels 1-7)

Chalea Volesga — same mid/combat catalog as Inisis Trimpet in Freeport (levels 10-50)

Topala Xenem (carries all the Psalm/buff songs)

Kelethin

Kelethin is where you go for the charm, mez, and lull songs. If you're doing crowd control, this is your stop. Three vendors, each with a different specialty.

Beleth Streamfoot (starter songs — same as Freeport/Qeynos Lysric)

Levels 1-7: Chords of Dissonance, Hymn of Restoration, Jaxan's Jig, Jonthan's Warsong, Lyssa's Locating Lyric, Selo's Accelerando

Astar Leafsinger (all the Psalm and buff songs)

Same catalog as Topala Xenem in Qeynos: Elemental Rhythms, Purifying Rhythms, Guardian Rhythms, all Psalms, Cassindra's Chorus, Niv's Melody, Hymn of Restoration.

Serilia Whistlewind (the CC and faction vendor — worth the trip up the lifts)

Kelethin is the only place you can buy your lull and mez songs. If you skip this vendor, you're going to feel it.

Erudin (Library)

One vendor. A short trip to the Erudite city across the ocean from Qeynos, but worth it for several songs you can't get anywhere else.

Altrusan Belstince (Erudin Palace Library)

Shauri's and Lyssa's Veracious Concord are the ones people forget — you absolutely want your group invis and the vision enhancements, and this is the only vendor selling them.

Highkeep

One vendor, but he carries several songs that are exclusively sold here. Don't skip Highkeep.

Justin Rhymes (yes that's really the NPC's name)

Levitate, Enduring Breath, Shadow Step, Snare — all Justin Rhymes. He deserves more recognition.

Velious Era Songs

Some songs added in Velious are sold in Freeport/Qeynos (they were patched into existing vendors), while others require Velious zones.

Cassindra's Chant of Clarity (Level 20) — sold in East Commonlands. The mana-regen song bards actually use; not the same as the classic Chorus of Clarity.

Cantata of Soothing (Level 34) — sold in Thurgadin (the Coldain dwarf city in Great Divide) and Iceclad Ocean. +HP, Mana, and Endurance regen in one song. Worth the Velious trip just for this.

NPC Drops (not vendor sold):

Kunark Era: Firiona Vie

All Kunark bard songs (levels 51-60) are sold in Firiona Vie. Once you're in the city, look for the bard guild. These are the songs that define a level 55-60 bard's toolkit.

If you're planning a shopping run and want to know where to go for what:

One full shopping run through all five Classic cities and you'll have everything through level 50. The gap most bards have is Kelethin — people roll out of Freeport with their starter set, skip the lull and mez entirely, and then wonder why they can't pull efficiently.
